Finding Confidence

Helping Richard Chelson Find His Confidence – PTC 415

Last week on Episode 414 we talked about finding belief in yourself. On this episode, I want to bring you a discussion I had with Richard Chelson about finding confidence in yourself and what you do.

WHERE DO YOU FIND CONFIDENCE?

Where do you find the confidence to put it out there for the world to see?

That is the journey I’m on. As I shared with you last week, my coach has challenged me to earn $100k in 100 days.

A big, hairy, audacious goal like that is a little scary. But, exciting at the same time when you back it with confidence.

Like we talked about last week, Wayne Gretzky said, “having a belief in yourself is ¾ of the battle.”

Make no small plans. They have no magic to stir men’s souls.

If you want to be great at something, be willing to be bad at it.

If you missed that episode, give it a listen RIGHT HERE.

THEY ARE JUDGING

When you put yourself out there, people have the opportunity to judge you. With the trolls on social media, that is even more likely in today’s world.

That makes confidence even more important.

However, confidence is elusive. I want to help you find it today.

As I have conversations with podcasters during our strategy calls, one common theme continues to come up. That is confidence.

The Impostor Syndrome is in all of us. Who am I to have a podcast? Who will ever listen to me? And, who will help me earn $100k in 100 days?

YOUR PASSION

I was on a call with a doctor when he told me he has been practicing for years. He is just getting ready to start a podcast.

This doctor is on social media a little. However, he doesn’t see the engagement he would like to see in order to have the confidence to launch a show.

Doc is starting to hit that point where we all wonder if the work is worth it.

He said, “Will I prematurely quit or double down the efforts and work through the process to success. The passion is the gas in the tank. I need to find that again.”

Have you heard that voice when facing a big dream?

Finding the passion is critical. Surround yourself with people who will inspire you and rekindle your passion.

Will anyone care about your passion as much as you do?

WHO CARES?

Jeff has a passion for music and music history. However, he has a desk job.

During our conversation, Jeff told me he is struggling with a way to make his passion for music the subject of his podcast and the basis for a new business.

Jeff has the same struggle with confidence.

He told me, “Who is going to listen? Who cares what I have to say? And, who will get value from what I discuss?”

Does that sound familiar?

As we talked, we developed a variety of ideas.

You have it in you to create what you love.

Will it be scary? Absolutely.

Can you find the confidence to launch it? Absolutely.

Surround yourself with people who can support you who are also going through the same things you are going through.
