Answering Podcast Questions – PTC 417

We recently got together to answer your podcasting questions. And now on this episode, you get those answers to help you on your podcasting journey.

GET LISTENERS

Chris:

Q: I’ve been podcasting for over a year now and I’m curious. What’s the one thing you started doing that made you start to get listeners.

A: Get on other stages and get people on your email list.

CONVERT CLIENTS

Kate:

Q: I have no idea how to convert listeners into clients. As an example, I use the books I have written as “sponsors” of the show. However, I am not sure what else to do without blatantly saying in a show, “I am a brain health coach”. I don’t do one-on-one much anymore – it’s all group programs. While it comes up in conversations, I’m not sure how to use that as a way to get people interested in my group programs.

A: Build rapport. In short, don’t be concerned with “selling”. Be concerned with “serving”. Show people how you help. Next, give them an opportunity to go deeper with you.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Richard:

Q: Everyone suggests putting your podcast out on Social Media… But what if you don’t really know anybody and you’re not the extroverted type? How do you fit that new task into your podcasting schedule?

A: Start building relationships. That’s where all business begins. Pretend you are sharing on social media with your best friend or sister. Same with the podcast. Talk to one person.

You have 168 hours in the week. Therefore, there is time to be dedicated to social media 15 minutes a day. When you make it a priority, you’ll find the time.

GETTING BOOKED

Tim:

Q: May I ask how does one get booked on a podcast?

A: Build relationships. Don’t spam hosts. To do this, know something about the show. After that, reach out and start a conversation. Reference the show you listened to. Mention things you like. Tell them you would love to be considered as a guest on the show.

SHOULD I DO VIDEO

Todd:

Q: Is it worth the extra effort to do a VIDEO podcast?

JL:

Q: Is it worth it to put my podcast on YouTube? I’m not planning on doing anything but putting the logo and audio because it’s such a hassle and on top of everything else it seems unnecessary .

A: YouTube is one of the biggest search engines in the world. Be on YouTube to be discovered. Ensure you lead people to your email list, so you can invite them to subscribe to the podcast. Start with the video.

Q: What’s something you wish you would have known before you started your podcast???

A: Grow your audience by getting on other stages and leveraging partners. To accomplish this, have powerful conversations with potential partners.

Q: I want to change our release schedule from weekly to biweekly as we are a research heavy podcast so it does get exhausting and was thinking if it will harm our growth

A: People are creatures of habit. Therefore, you need to help them create habits. Rather than biweekly, consider splitting the show into two parts.
