Finding belief in yourself is the most important and critical step when accomplishing anything.
My coach recently challenged me to generate $100k in 100 days.
Yeah, I got that feeling in my stomach. Who am I to generate that kind of money that fast?
That’s when I realized I am fighting against that same voice I help others defeat.
It is funny how things appear in your path when you need them most. Three things came into my world this week that told me this is possible.
Three is a magic number. These three things really got me inspired to take action.
WAYNE ON BELIEF
First, I recently got a membership to MasterClass. It’s the online platform where celebrities and experts teach from their zone of genius.
Well, you know I’m a big hockey fan. The first MasterClass I had to watch was taught by Wayne Gretzky, arguably the greatest hockey player ever to play the game.
It was amazing. He had so many great business and personal growth nuggets in that presentation.
There was one that jumped out at me and grabbed me by the collar.
Wayne said, “Having a belief in yourself is ¾ of the battle.”
Yep, I get it. I need to believe in myself. This $100k in 100 days is only possible if I truly believe it is possible.
When I serve in the best way possible, I can really help coaches in a meaningful way. My coaching makes a difference in their lives.
This is what I have been doing with radio talent for three decades. We transform their content to build powerful, meaningful relationships with their audience in order to grow business.
Now, we just need to really take it to a whole new level. I will focus on a few and go deep to grow their business in a way that changes their lives.
This will start with a workshop I am holding on Thursday for a dozen podcasters.
This isn’t just a training. I am taking it to a whole new level where we do the work during the workshop and get things done.

Are you with me? Do you have belief in yourself? Go check it out.
DANIEL BURNAM
The second thing that happened came from notes I had taken a decade ago.
There are a stack of 5 notepads sitting next to my desk. These are tablets where I take notes from the various events I have attented over the years.
A few years ago, I started taking notes in journals. They are easier for me to store and find when I need them. So, I haven’t looked at these notepads for quite some time.
Last week, I was reviewing notes in one of the tablets that I had taken during a Dan Miller course back in 2011. Dan is the author of 48 Days To The Work And Life You Love at 48days.com.
In the notes was a quote I had written down and circled.
Dan used a quote from Daniel Burnam that said, “Make no small plans. They have no magic to stir men’s souls.”
Ok. Sign number two. I get it.
$100k in 100 days. I gotta think big.
I need to believe big.
Thinking big creates magic. I’m ready for it.
RYAN REYNOLDS
The third came from one of my favorite podcasts.
While driving, I always listen to a podcast or an audiobook. Being a lifelong learner from those who have come before me has always been part of my identity.
This time, it was Barbara Corcoran’s “Business Unusual” podcast.
Barbara’s guest quoted actor/entrepreneur Ryan Reynolds who said, “If you want to be great at something, you need to be willing to be bad at something.”
Nobody starts at the top.
Sign number three. I need to be willing to be bad at being vulnerable in real time in order to become great at it.
WE UNDERESTIMATE
We overestimate what we can accomplish in one year while underestimating what is possible in five years.
As my daughter Emma began playing piano, she needed to learn to be patient mastering songs while being bad.
When 6-year-old Emma met Taylor Swift, Emma mentioned that she plays piano. Taylor said she wished she had never given up piano, and made Emma pinky swear she would never quit.
My little 6-year-old did just that.
A few years later, Emma became very frustrated while learning a difficult piece for her piano recital.
Tears came.
I tried to explain she needed to be patient, be methodical, and learn a little piece at a time. She didn’t want to follow my suggestions.
Emma just wanted to know it now.
I told Emma, “If you’re going to get this frustrated trying to learn these pieces, you don’t need to continue piano. Quit, and do something you enjoy.”
She said, “I can’t quit. I pinky swore Taylor Swift.”
I said, “Well then, keep practicing and give it time.”
Within a week, Emma was playing the piece quite well.
She is 20 today and still plays. Emma enjoys learning songs by ear and writing her own. She does it one small piece at a time.
BELIEF IN YOUR GOALS
What would you like to accomplish in five years?
Break that goal down to one-year, quarterly, monthly and weekly benchmarks.
Now, focus.
Determine your next most important step. Then, take it.
That’s what I’m doing with this $100k in 100 days challenge. I’m putting myself out there and trying new things to find the coaches that are a perfect fit for my coaching.
I’m doing Facebook live videos. There will be a lot of video shared on YouTube. I want you to benefit from my journey as I share the details, what is working and what isn’t.
I need to have belief in myself while thinking big. No small plans. Then, I need to be willing to be vulnerable and bad while I work on being great.
WORKSHOP
It all starts with this workshop on Thursday. It’s called Build Your Podcast Profits Strategy Workshop and is limited to 12 podcasters.
If you’re like me, you’re tired of sitting through webinars that are simply empty sales pitches.
It’s time we flip the script.
Instead of a webinar, I’m holding this workshop where we actually get things done and set you up for an amazing 2023.
Instead of being open to everyone who registers, it is limited to 12 people committed to their 2023 success. I want everyone to get the attention they need and deserve.
And instead of being free, there is a small investment. I want you to have skin in the game, so you show up, have belief in yourself, play full out, and make a huge difference in your future.
You can get full details at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/workshop to see if 2023 will bring the success of your dreams.
Having a belief in yourself is ¾ of the battle.
Make no small plans. They have no magic to stir men’s souls.
If you want to be great at something, be willing to be bad at it.
I would love to see you there and join me on this journey.
NEXT WEEK ON BELIEF
Next week I’ll bring you a case study. Richard Chelson has launched two failed podcasts and is working on his third.
As you can imagine, Richard is struggling with his belief.
I’ll bring you that conversation on the next episode.
In the meantime, join me in the Build Your Podcast Profits Strategy Workshop before the 12 spots fill. You can get full details and see if there are spots open at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/workshop.
